Aloha, Hawaiian Surfing Adventures is run by Alapa Family. Hawaiian Surfing Adventures is family owned and operated.
Mitchell is born and raised of Hawaiian ancestry, he has been surfing his whole life. Born on Oahu’s North Shore in Hauula, he has lived on the island of Kauai since he was 2 years old. Growing up in Haena and Hanalei and then the small town of Anahola, he had access to some of the best surfing Hawaii has to offer. As anyone who meets him will tell you, he’s a very fun person to be around. His personality is infectious, and his knowledge of Hawaii and the ocean will put even the most timid at ease. He is great with the kids and he knows almost “everyone on Kauai” so often times students and then families feel they are really on the inside of life on Kauai rather then on the outside looking in.
His wife Lynn Alapa was born and raised in British Columbia Canada. She moved to Hawaii in 1973 where she fell in love with Mitchell. They do have many students that are from Canada. They have two daughters and a son; Kanani, Bridget and Mitchell Boy. They also have three grandchildren; Juliana, Curren and Koi.

Our surf instructors are from Kauai and are big wave riders, many of whom have been competitive surfers. They know how to make sure your experience is fun while you accomplish your goal of learning to surf.
